A new legal requirement from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) comes into force on 19 June 2026. This change ensures patients can raise concerns about how their personal data is handled, and that practices respond consistently and transparently.

What is changing?
All osteopaths are already required to have a complaints policy under D4 of the Osteopathic Practice Standards. This update strengthens existing requirements by making it explicit that:
  • Patients must be able to raise complaints about how their personal data is handled
  • Practices must have a clear, documented process for managing these data protection complaints

Please see the below documents with information on Live Well Osteopathy's Data Complaints Procedure, and a Complaints Form.
